Why is my window stuck or hard to open?

What’s likely going on

Paint sealing the window shut, swollen wood from humidity, or a buildup of dirt and debris in the track are the usual causes — none of them mean anything is broken, just that the window needs some real attention.

Is this a DIY job or worth calling someone?

Cleaning the track and gently scoring along a painted seam with a utility knife is a reasonable DIY step. A window that's warped enough that it won't sit flush anymore is a bigger job worth having someone assess.

Not sure, or ready to have someone take care of it?
