Why do weeds keep coming back in my flower beds no matter how often I pull them?
What’s likely going on
Pulling a weed by hand often leaves the root system intact, especially for established weeds — and a bed without a fresh layer of mulch has nothing blocking new weed seeds from germinating in the bare soil.
Is this a DIY job or worth calling someone?
Regular pulling helps, especially for young weeds where the whole root comes up easily. A bed that's genuinely overrun usually needs a real fresh start — clearing it properly and mulching afterward — which is a bigger job than ongoing spot-pulling can keep up with.
