Why does an entire room have no power?

A whole room losing power at once usually traces back to one tripped breaker or GFCI outlet controlling that circuit — electrical circuits in most homes cover a room or a group of rooms, not one outlet at a time.
Is this a DIY job or worth calling someone?
Checking the breaker panel first is safe and often the whole answer. If the breaker looks fine and power still isn't there, that points to a real problem in the wiring itself, which isn't something to keep testing on your own.
